Sit back and relax!

Finally, we made it to our room, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but the kitchen and living room space was essentially one room, with a small low-down sofa and a large table in the middle, but it had a lot of space which I was pleased about. 

There was even some music coming from our windows, I thought perhaps this was a special occasion, not realising the music in the air would be very regular, not that I minded, it could be very relaxing, just sitting on the sofa and listening to the music being played outside somewhere. 

Now that I think about it, all my thoughts had been about what the Spanish classes would be like and what it would be like staying in Granada for two weeks without anyone I know, I had hardly thought about what my accommodation would be like. 

It very much felt like a student flat and I suppose in a way, that’s what it was and if I was someone else, the monster would have laughed at me, but it just looked grumpy, knowing I actually missed my student days, not the degree, I wish I hadn’t done that degree however that’s a story for another time, but I missed the student life, so I actually enjoyed the fact my accommodation reminded me of a student flat back home. 

Sarah told me where my bedroom and the bathroom was, and I rushed to drop everything in my bedroom, now all I wanted was to have a shower and just sit and relax on my bed for a couple of minutes and take everything in. I was here, I was actually here. Nothing had gone wrong, I’d made it. 

And the monster very slowly released its grip on me and stepped back, looking around at its surroundings.

“I told you, I told you I could do it” I said, grinning and now that the monster was finally quiet and I sitting there, in the school, in Spain, I realised how smooth the journey had truly been. 

Perhaps without the monster breathing behind my back, I could have even enjoyed my journey here? 

And the monster finally had nothing to retort and as I breathed a sigh of relief, it left angrily, but I knew it would be back, but I’d be ready.
