Daily Prompt, Children TV Shows

Daily writing prompt
What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

This will be fun! Quick mentions! Horrible Histories! Ben 10, Power Rangers and Arthur!

I love talking about television shows, films, animations, all sorts like that! I suppose thats expected since I’ve got a degree in Television and Video Production, not that its been much use in finding a job!

Well to be fair, I managed to get some good contacts but after some work experience, I decided that I couldn’t dedicate my life too it like I thought, it was just too much pressure, to be very honest.

But I still love talking about this kind of thing!

So what did I watch as a kid? Mmmmm? Apart from the television shows I mentioned I also remember watching a lot of Fosters Home for imaginary friends I liked a lot, Dick and Dom was fun too, wow, there are so many now running through my mind!

I think I’ll just name my top three favourites.

Number one- Avatar the Last Airbender, this probably does not need a description but I’ll do it anyway ha! An fantastic animation where people can control the elements and have their own cultures/countries based on that! There’s a war going on and its up to Aang, the avatar and his friends to save the day!

Honestly I still watch this now and again as an adult! Still love it! I had no clue how popular this was until I decided to return to it while I was at University and realised the majority of people who liked cartoons no matter what age, seemed to enjoy this!

Number Two – Raven, a children’s adventure game show, unlike Avatar I don’t go back and watch Raven now, but I still remember it with great fondness in my heart. I’m not really sure how else to describe it so I’ll just post this clip here.

Number ThreeTrapped, another adventure game show! I loved this show! Basically children were “trapped” in this tower and they had to complete these game shows to go up the tower and eventually get out, what made this even more interesting is that a child would be chosen to be a traitor on each floor and would have the task of ruining the other kids challenges and making them loose and the others had to figure out, who this trailer was. Here is a clip of the show, click here! I loved the animated theme tune of this!

Horrible Histories might be tied with Trapped to be honest, it was a surprisingly accurate children’s history program, they had lot of funny sketches that helped you remember history and fun songs too, here are some examples, this fun sketch about the war of roses, click here(Did you know Games of Thrones was inspired by War of The Roses!) and this fun song about royalty in Russia, UK and Germany, who were cousins! I enjoyed the song.

Anyway, I’m off too bed soon, hope you enjoyed this!

    1. With children’s shows I’m kind of the same! I only go back to two of them now again, which is the Avatar the Airbender and horrible histories which both still interests me, despite being an adult ha. But I did lose interest in the other children tv shows but I still think of them with fondness!

  4. I watched the Brady Bunch and Room 222 and One Day at a Time as a child, Lone Ranger and Leave It To Beaver and now that I’m listings them I realize none of them have Black characters and I wondering how that impacted my life and world view overall… I got me doing some reflection work

    1. I never noticed when I was a child or thought about race representation but I am glad that problem is now slowly being addressed and more non white characters are on screen, I guess where I am (I live in the UK) some of it makes sense due to the fact the majority of the population are white but everyone should be more inclusive and more representative, so I’m glad that’s being addressed slowly, I have heard of the Brady bunch but not the other two.

      1. I’m tired of going slow when it comes to Black Representation honestly. I’m over fifty and a beautiful person (everyone says so…lol big smile) and I’m in the USA and we do have more inclusive and accurate representation now but mostly on the internet 🛜 YouTube is where we are speaking about our history in this country and the Motherland. We are telling our stories and sharing our experiences. I’m actually writing a book now

      2. Yes I agree things should go more quickly or not even have that problem in the first place but I feel like that’s always the way with big changes, society is always slow go change unfortunately 😦
