Daily Prompt, Infamous or Famous Meeting?

Before I do anything I’d like to say it’s Remembrance Day today. I did two minutes of silence at 11pm on the 11th November. The photograph above is from an art in 2014. Each poppy represents “a british or colonial servicemen who fell during World War One”

Poppies are often used to represent the fallen soldiers and it moved me a lot when I went back to look at this photo and others.

We do a 2 minute silence to remember all the fallen in many wars.

I found that I reacted differently to this day each year, sometimes I can’t seem to wrap my mind around it and I feel too detached and feel guilty that I don’t feel much but other times I’ve felt too attached and has tears in my eyes.

This year I welled up a lot and I think that’s because I can more personally relate to it now. My Grandad didn’t serve in World War Two but he still was a soldier and told me stories of him running through this forests, bullets flying past how when he stopped running, he noticed how some others that he’d seen with, seconds before, were no longer with him but he’d sound so calm about it all. He passed away near the end of last year ❤️

I felt like I should share this.

Now sorry this is going to be a strange subject change but I’ll lighten up and go on to the prompt.

Who is the most famous or infamous person you have ever met?

So I don’t think I have ever met anyone but I’ve seen celebrities walking past or just sitting in front of me but not just randomly on the street like I’ve seen with other people.

I did see this actor who was best well known for his acting in a popular film called This Is England. At the time though I didn’t remember that and just thought he looked really familiar.

I did stare a bit I have to say while I was making tea for the camera crew, I was just trying to work out why he looked so familiar. He greeted me and I said hi back then I scampered back to the camera crew I was helping out (work experience, I was on a film set) but I didn’t recognise any of the other actors and actresses apart from him.

I think I only realised where I knew him from about a week afterwards 😅

And I’ve been a prop runner (you get props for studios) for a popular UK based studio called ITV, so I saw some celebs while I was working there but I didn’t say hello or anything and visa versa.

I say work, it was work experience again. I had a pretty terrible time working there I have to say. Not because of the people, the stress of being there just was way too much and I spent a lot of time crying in their bathroom because of the pressure.

Basically while I was working at ITV I realised that my dream job of working in the film and tv industry was not for me and so it’s a pretty terrible thing when you realise what you’ve been working on for three years (my degree) and been working towards and thinking about many years before that, means nothing and your going to have to figure out what you actually want to do.

Anyway, getting off track, I think the celeb I was most excited to see was Stacy Solomon, I liked her a lot from what I’d seen on tv and I was basically with the runner who delivered instructions to her about the show (I was behind the scenes of a show called Loose Women) and I just stood awkwardly to the side as the runner talked to her about the show then we left.

A bit part of me wanted to speak up but I thought that would be unprofessional, so I just stayed silent. Maybe she wondered what this 20 year old was doing, just standing in the corner holding instructions that the runner could have held himself 🤷‍♀️

The conversation was really quick though so I don’t really know what she was like, she didn’t seem bored but not excited like she portrays herself sometimes, just calm, focused, I guess?

But yeah that’s my celeb experience. I say celeb because it’s easier to say hey they are popular and a lot of people know them but I don’t see them as “special people” they are just people who have got such interesting and usually very well paid jobs. It’s probably very pressurising knowing thousands, maybe millions of people are listening to you.

I don’t agree with the opinion that all celebs are snobs and I don’t agree with the opinion that all celebs should be treated like they are incredibly special. Like always, I think balance is important. Certain celebrities I’d respect more than others (David Attenborough for example, I’d respect a lot) I’ve seen people hating just because that persons popular or people liking someone just because they’re popular, both things I disagree with.
