Sit back and relax!

Are you putting something off? The words echoed in my head. 

As much as I didn’t want to admit it, I knew that it was right. I had to go out and get food anyway. I was starting to feel very hungry. 

I let out a sigh, sitting upwards on my bed. 

Come on. 

Move. 

Why couldn’t I move? 

The monster’s eyes stared into me, like a drill, drilling into tearable paper. 

My stomach grumbled, and I took a deep breath in and out, closing my eyes. 

I imagined what type of food there would be, and before I knew it, the prison I’d been in, cracked open, I could move! 

I picked up my bum bag, my phone, made sure I had my money with me and double, no triple checked I had my keys with me. 

Here goes nothing. 

I already knew where I was going because in our information packs it told you the closest shop, that you could buy food from. I had put the address into my phone, and it only looked a couple of minutes away. 

Sarah was on her laptop still, in the kitchen, she looked up as I passed her. 

“I’m going out to get some food, I might try some tapas bars or something” I said, trying to sound confident, but you could practically hear the nerves in my voice. 

“No you won’t” A voice murmured from my bum bag. 

No… I probably wouldn’t. 

I mean, I definitely would at some point, but I could feel the monster’s grip on me so tightly right now as I said goodbye to Sarah and walked out of our flat and on to the long narrow stairs. 

I had soon arrived at the tiny courtyard, noting to myself how much warmer it was, than this morning. 

The two sets of doors leading to the outside the school, loomed in front of me, thankfully they seemed to be open, so I didn’t need to use my keys. 

I double-checked I had everything again. 

Okay. 

Here I go. 

It’s only a couple of minutes away, there’s no way I’d get lost. 

“You got lost in a supermarket once” An unhelpful voice remarked. 

Let’s not bring that up!
