Daily Post, Positive Impact

Daily writing prompt
Share a story about someone who had a positive impact on your life.

I have a couple of people but I think who I think of a lot is a specific teacher who helped me a lot. When I was in a school, an English teacher who eventually became head of the difficulty learning department, I’m dyslexic so we’d have meetings about how to help me out and what I was struggling with and she would also be my Drama teacher as well.

I honestly looked up to her and admired her so much, we just seemed to click really well and she just believed in me and made me feel like my work was worth it.

In fact when I was in my first year, I was getting bullied in my form, a class students go too before starting actual educational classes, and in sports day you’d be in your forms as teams and compete against other forms in your year and I was offered to change forms but I refused simply because I knew if I changed to the form they were offering, I’d have a different English teacher.

But yeah, she helped me so much and I wish I’d get in contact with her once I finished school but unfortunately stupid younger me, lost her contact details and then I had some health then family problems to focus on and that took a couple of years to get through, and by that time I decided it had been too long to reach out and I felt like I’d never know where to start in thanking her and explaining what’s gone on since I left school, my nerves also got the best of me.

However I still wish her all the best and hope she knows how important she was to me and what a difference she made to my life.

    1. I have thought about it but always been too nervous! Since it’s been so long! Perhaps one day I shall get the courage too!

      1. It’s ok. Even after decades, a teacher would just love to be remembered and appreciated.
