Daily Prompt, Internet

Daily writing prompt
Do you remember life before the internet?

Factually no, I do not, since I wasn’t alive then, however do I remember a time before I even knew what the internet was? Yes, and it’s odd to think about now, since I am so dependent on the internet currently.

When I was a child, I was just in my own world, playing with animal toys, action figures (I was a tom boy so I didn’t like barbie toys) And reading popular comics like the Beano and He-Man.

I was introduced to the internet via YouTube. I remember the exact day it happened, I was around my sister friends house and she was had put a song on her computer. I only had ever used computers for Word in class and playing games that were not online (Not that I knew what online meant at the time) so I didn’t know what the system she was using to play this visual fun song was, since all my songs were not visual and were CD players!

I asked what it was and she showed me it. The Crazy Frog was playing. Now considered a very old and even annoying video but back then it was new and exciting!

When I went home, I found it then played Crazy Frog on repeat. Me being on YouTube lead me to truly discover the internet.

Some people say that the internet is bad for this world but I disagree. I’ve been able to do so many online courses and sign up to so many educational sites thanks to the internet.

I do think it can be a bad thing if you use it too often but as long as you pay attention to your own reality and understand when you should take a breaks and experience real life then it’s perfectly okay!

Hell, sometimes the internet is your way into experiencing real life if you book up events and travel opportunities online πŸ™‚

It just makes everything so much easier in my opinion πŸ™‚

  1. Great post. Reminds me of the days of dial up and AOL. Actually, even that predates YouTube. We’ve come a long way since then.

  2. Okay, mental note: Check out The Crazy Frog on YouTube. I like the pictures you sometimes attach to your posts including this one. Did you make those digitally or just find them somewhere? I agree with you about the internet. It’s a good thing but most people who don’t have jobs, namely me, my mom and crackheads, get a little swept up in it.

    1. Haha, it can get very annoying very quickly but since it was the first YouTube video I saw, I was fascinated by it XD Thank you! Unfortunately all my daily posts are not my own and part of WordPress. However the majority of pictures within my review posts and my chapter posts are my own πŸ™‚ However the title photo is usually not my own and I also found them on WordPress.

      1. Do you remember The Song That Never Ends? I like music so much that when my daughter came home from school and introduced it to me, no doubt an effort to annoy me, I listened to a few rounds then started singing with her. Now I teach it to kids. I’m very obnoxious.

      2. Haha! XD I don’t think I ever heard that song to be honest! I just looked it up and it does not sound familer but I can understand how some people could find it annoying XD Its fun that you got to enjoy it with her! She probably was surprised when you joined in? XD, Talking about songs that were meant to annoy, I had one I used to sing with my sister to annoy my parents when I was little and I wonder if you’ll know about it, I have no clue where it came from though but it had the lines “I’ve got a song that will get on your nerves, get on your nerves, get on your nerves” While clapping and singing the line on repeat XD

      3. Nope, never heard that one. Our childhood songs must be regional or something.

      4. Could be a different country thing πŸ™‚ I never asked where you were from? You might have mentioned it but I can’t remember! I’m from the UK. I think in a post I read about your difficulties in the past, your story is quite inspiring, you mentioned a sheriff, are you from the US? Pretty sure we don’t have sheriffs or don’t use that name anyway, that could explain the childhood song differences, if they both were very popular in our country at the time πŸ™‚

      5. Yes, US. Kansas, dead center of US.

      6. Aha! it makes sense we both don’t find each others songs familiar then! I’ve never been to Kansas before, I’ve always liked the idea of visiting the US more though! I have only been to Orlando and New York, I’m from a county bordering London πŸ™‚
