Daily Prompt, Favourite Season

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite season of year? Why?

This season right now, summer! I love the heat, so any other season I’m not really a fan of because usually, in the UK apart from summer, its not that warm!

Today it should get to around 27 Celsius, thats 80.6 F for any American viewers and yes I did have to look that up because I do not understand Fahrenheit.

I just enjoy the sun, when I think of warmth and the sun, it just makes me think of holidays abroad and even if I’m working, it just makes me feel like I can pretend I’m somewhere else and I just feel more energised.

The only thing I don’t like about summer is how sticky it can get in bed and I find it so hard to sleep when its warm. What probably doesn’t help is that we have these thick duvets, since we’re used to it being cold at night but its a problem when its actually warm!

One of the things I noticed when I went to Spain was how thin their duvets were, which makes complete sense, given the normal temperature difference.

Its always too warm in the summer in bed but I think we should really switch to those thin duvets in this season but no one ever does, as far as I’m aware anyway, so I’ve taken too putting a hand held fan next to my bed and last year I recently brought a fan that could squirt out vaporised water out, now and again, which was amazing!

Some people might be wondering why this can’t be solved with air conditioning but we don’t usually have air conditioning in our houses, as I hear countries that are used to getting hot, tend to have that but since the UK didn’t used to get hot regually or for long intervals no ones bothers with it but due to climate change, our temperature is changing and its getting hotter for longer, so I do think we all need to start using air conditioning.

To be fair, its not like we don’t have air con at all, I have it in the shop I work at but its still not common. I do hope it will become more common as our weather continues to change.

Our houses are built to conserve the heat, so yes you can imagine that it can get very hot inside in the summer but despite that I still enjoy the summer more!

  1. I like Spring and Fall where the temperatures are temperate. But I live in the desert, so it gets way hot here — upwards of 110 degrees F (43.3 C) sometimes. I had to look that up too because I never remember how to convert from one to the other. ^_^ A/C is necessary here in the Summer because even though the houses are built to withstand the heat, it still gets way too hot to go without.

    1. Oh wow, I can’t imagine that type of heat! We got 40 c last year and that was the hottest its been ever, in the UK, I felt like I was slowly boiling alive when I stepped outside! Completely understandable since it gets so hot where you are!

      1. Luckily, it doesn’t get that hot very often, but it does get up into the 90’s and 100’s a lot. I mean… desert. 🙂

  2. You can get duvets of different ‘togs’. Thought even a low one might be too much on the occasional hot summer night in the UK. Here in Madrid, it can be over 30 at night. So, not even a sheet.

    1. Yeah, I was surprised when I saw how thin they were in Spain while I was in Granada but it completely makes sense considering the weather so I shouldn’t have been surprised ha.

  3. Truly I really don’t like the summer season cause in my country the temp normally is 40c and sometimes it goes to 52c …. It’s so irritable and feels so tiring …. Sometimes it is very hard to concentrate on our work … That’s why I don’t like the summer season but I like the rainy season as it makes me feel very calm ….
