This is going to be hard to answer!
My number one and two film is probably How to Train Your Dragon 1 and 2. The animation was fantastic! I think I cried on the second film.
My third is Klaus, I watched it recently and I loved it! Such a heartwarming animated Christmas film!
Hey look, finally a film that’s not animated! Darkest Hour. I enjoy war films and I know Churchill isn’t really looked on in a good light anymore but I feel like just because someone had horrible views or actions, doesn’t mean it should wipe out what they did for us. In my view Churchill helped us a large amount in WW2, so not only did I appreciate this film, I also loved how it was directed and edited together. I also enjoyed the Churchill and the Kings interactions and how they both became friends. Of course I don’t think Churchill’s horrible opinions and actions should be forgotten but I think both sides shouldn’t be forgotten or erased, both sides needs to be acknowledged.
Another Christmas film, Arthur Christmas is comedy gold! I don’t think it’s that well known but I loved it! Not only is it heartwarming but so funny! If you like animated films and comedy humour, with quick witty remarks but also a lovable clumsy character as your main character, you’ll love it!
Maze Runner, this one I admit I am heavily biased for. I don’t enjoy the sequels as much so they’re not here. I may have taken a big liking for the actor who plays Thomas, Dylan O’brien but watching him first time as a lead, I was like hell yes! He plays a character in a teen drama I used to watch called Stiles, who I liked a lot and then I started watching loads of the actors interviews and I was like welp, any film you’re in gets a ten out of ten from me! Ha!
My seventh is Love Actually! It’s a Christmas film again! Sorry! I wasn’t aware of how many Christmas films I loved until this list! I absolutely love the characters we follow and it’s so heartwarming, sometimes sad as well! I especially loved the editing and the narrative with how the stories are separate but they all connect and relate to each other in the end!
My eighth film is Dunkirk, I loved how it was filmed and you really felt sorry for what the soldiers were going through. The time frames was unique as well! I felt so sorry for the pilot in the end! While I didn’t have anyone I know at Dunkirk, my Grandfather was too young at the time and I don’t think I heard much about their dads though or my great grandfather but anyway while I didn’t know anyone personally, it’s a big event for us in WW2 so I was very happy that it’s story was being shared and more people around the world would get to know about it.
I heard the soldiers thought they were going to be thought of as failures when they came back but they were met with a hero’s welcome instead.
My ninth film is Hacksaw Ridge, to be very honest with you while I was impressed with how it was based on a real story, I mainly picked it up because not only do I like war films but I took a liking to the actor, Andrew Garfield though unlike Maze Runner, the main reason is not just because of him, I enjoyed everything about this film! Gritty, it felt quite realistic, how it was shot and most of all I enjoyed learning about the hero Desmond Doss, a medic solider going out without a gun?! The fact when I looked more into this, the film has actually dulls down some of Desmond Doss’s real story because they thought it might be unbelievable is mind blowing to me!
My tenth is Spider-Man: No way home. Fantastic Marvel film! My favourite out of all of them! Loved all the characters, especially Andrew Garfield coming back, I actually preferred his films to Tony’s so there 😜 I loved his and Gwens dynamic the most and got heart broken in the last film! But of course I loved Toms Spider-Man going through grief and really growing into his character, all his films fit so well for this last one.
Special mention the Spider-verse films were amazing and I am so sorry I couldn’t fit them in there! While they were both definitely better than Arthur Christmas the nostalgia for Arthur Christmas is just too much for me to take if of my top ten list. Klaus just had this realism and character too it that I can’t drop it and nothing is getting me to drop my top two, dragons over spiders I have to say!
This took me way to long to write and I might have to miss breakfast because of it, so I can get to work on time but oh well 😅
