Daily Prompt, Attempt But Never Failing

Daily writing prompt
What’s something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail.

Ooh! This requires some thought! Since I’m tired from yesterday (I worked as a wine waitress at a really beautiful venue at the Victoria and Albert Museum but I got back at midnight! 🥱I’m still tired from that!) I’ll post this earlier so I can go to sleep earlier 🙂

I think it’s this: For many many years I’ve liked the idea of writing a specific story I’ve thought about. I’ve had this story idea for a long time about creating this huge fantasy, historic and modern world but with immortal characters and since they are immortal, I have trouble knowing what date in history to start and I have loads of characters in my head, each could be a main character, so what character should I start with? But also maybe I’d follow a character that isn’t immortal and have their normal perspective on this world with these special immortal characters, who have their own abilities and a power system in the world.

I’d love to suddenly know where to start and what character to focus on and know that I’d successfully be able to write it without having writers block!

Instead of writing a story, I did think perhaps I’d like to learn Spanish easily but I do actually enjoy the learning process and have such a thrill when I remember certain words to say what I want or understand something new, and I think if I could learn Spanish straight away with no failure I’ll miss out of those parts of the learning process! I also love to go back to the Spanish school or a different Spanish school in Spain and if I successfully learnt Spanish without fail then I wouldn’t need to go to that Spanish school!

So yeah, instead of that, I think I’d love to write the story I had in my head for years and be able to figure out how to start it!

I have tried to start it three times already but it always doesn’t feel right and I just worry about the characters I started with and then I find myself getting more interested in a different character and I’m like, should the beginning be from their perspective instead? And yeah, it’s very difficult!

I’d love to just have a clear narrative in my head instead of all these little plot points and no proper beginning.

I do like the idea of writing this story on this blog but I have to figure out a beginning I am happy with first, ha!

Hope you have a good day! I’m off to bed now!

  1. if this helps at all, try to set the main story idea aside and just start building beautiful and full bio’s on each of the many characters until things start to surface for your direction… think of it like framing before laying in all the materials for the build…

  2. I think a lot of people want to be able to write a good story and that was something that I would’ve probably said in the past. Hope you will be able to do this some day!

  3. There are writing apps that might help. I haven’t used them, but I’ve heard they’re useful.
