Daily Prompt, Middle Name?

What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

I am back and hoping to do a post every day once again! Maybe even more depending on what I am doing! I actually have three middle names, which is definitely unusual I think.

I don’t feel comfortable saying my middle names since they can be used to get a lot of personal info about me but I will say that there isn’t much meaning to them, its more like they are from my parents favourite television show as well as an actress my parents liked, which is kind of interesting since for ages I actually wanted to be an actress but eventually decided not too.

Though fun fact, I found it out when I went to Spain for a two week spanish school. My fun fact is that they don’t actually have middle names in Spain and my Spanish teacher was very confused when I tried to explain it to her!

Having middle names is so normal to me so it was just surprising and interesting that in Spain that isn’t a thing.

She wanted to know what was the point of middle names? And honestly I couldn’t answer her, I assumed that it was just another way to identify you but I’m not actually sure! I never really thought about it, so yeah that was very interesting to me!

    Interesting. Most of the women I’ve met from Spain (I used to tutor English as a Second Language, so I met a lot of people from all over the place) have had names like Maria Silvia Surname and they often went by the Silvia “middle” name rather than Maria because Maria is kind of a non-name… a blessing that they wanted to give to their girls from the Virgin Mary. That’s how one woman explained to me anyway. Which is why when people immigrated here to the USA from Spanish-speaking countries so many got stuck with “Maria” instead of their “middle” name. Because we don’t have that practice here in the States.

    But that was a few decades ago. Maybe they don’t do that anymore. ^_^ Or maybe they think of Maria Silvia as one name. I dunno. But it’s interesting that we had different experiences with the whole middle name thing.

      Hello! Hope you had a good week! I assume either it’s not done any more or maybe it was one name, perhaps it was a regional thing but they didn’t seem familiar with it at all and someone even asked which name I’d like to be called 😅
